Let the Games Begin!

2010 Sun Peaks Games start this Friday!

Sun Peaks, BC (February 11, 2010) – The medal count board is up, the flags are flying and the spirit of 2010 is front and centre at Sun Peaks in the BC Interior as the resort gets set to celebrate the Olympics in their own style.

The Sun Peaks Games kick off this Friday, February 12 with the Opening Ceremonies at the base of Tod and Sundance Mountains. Wear your red and white and cheer on our Canadian athletes as they go for gold.

There is a fun, family activity every day from February 12 to 28, ranging from hockey skills challenges on the outdoor ice rink, to obstacle courses, to children’s ski and snowboard races on Sundance Mountain.

Sign up your family for the 3 Peaks Biathlon on either Monday, February 15 or Thursday, February 25! Participants race to the top of all three mountains at Sun Peaks to compete in accuracy and agility challenges. Test your aim as you use a toy Nerf gun to hit the mark, sling shot ping pong balls at a target, and challenge your balance in a one foot ski/snowboard through a pylon course.

Watch the Olympians on the Bobsled course and then hit the Sun Peaks Tube Park to try your hand at Sun Peaks Skeleton, tube style! Guess your time before you drop into the tube run and the participant closest to their actual time wins.

After taking on the curling and cross-country ski challenges, head to one of the many village pubs and restaurants who are broadcasting the official Olympic events and cheer on Team Canada! The medal board in the village will be updated daily as we watch our home-grown athletes race for the podium.

With almost 4000 acres to ski or snowboard, no line-ups, no security checks and no parking issues, Sun Peaks is the perfect place for your family in February.
