Alpine Blossom Festival returns to Sun Peaks

Alpine Blossom Festival – July 30-31, 2011

Sun Peaks, BC (July 26, 2011) – Each summer from mid-July to mid-August, the upper reaches of Tod Mountain are blanketed with a wide array of colourful alpine wildflowers. To celebrate the season, Sun Peaks Resort is pleased to announce the return of the Alpine Blossom Festival, July 30 and 31.

This is a weekend celebrating both the blossoms and family. The village will be alive with FREE entertainment and activities. Families can enjoy live music from Shane Philip on the didjeridoo, performances by magician Clinton Gray and Uncle Chris the Clown, plus face painting, a climbing wall, a giant inflatable bouncy castle and more!

For a true Alpine Blossom experience, join Olympic Champion Nancy Greene and head out on the alpine hiking trails for a challenging Hike to Tod Peak on Saturday, July 20. Nancy will hike to the peak via the West Bowl Trail with a 20 minute stop for lunch at Tod Lake.

On Sunday, August 1, the attention shifts to the Sun Peaks & Region Farmers’ Market as we celebrate the local farmers, ranchers and artisans who join us weekly in the village. Sign your family up for the Farmers’ Market Olympics, with scarecrow making, corn husking, corn eating, and water balloon competitions!

And back by popular demand after a memorable appearance last summer, there will be 5 Star Dog Training Agility Demonstrations from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Saturday, July 30.
