December 10, 2008 – Sun Peaks, BC – Christmas is a spectacular time of year in Canada. Smells of turkey and stuffing fill the air as you gather with friends and family to celebrate the best of the season. Snowflakes drift down from the sky, blanketing the trees and mountains. Christmas lights cast a magical glow on freshly fallen snow, creating a delightful atmosphere for carolers and people out for an evening stroll.

 

 

Sun Peaks Resort turns into a winter wonderland for the holidays…the perfect setting for a Christmas getaway.

 

 

December 20 & 21Amid the retail frenzy in the run-up to Christmas, stress-free shopping is an event to be cherished. Sun Peaks Resort is bringing a 200 year old European tradition to the heart of their Tyrolean inspired alpine village this holiday season.  The Kriskindle Market, from 3pm to 7pm both days, is a wonderful opportunity to finish your Christmas shopping in a traditional, festive environment. Warm up with a glass of mulled wine and then hit the market to peruse local arts and crafts, hand-made decorations and organic produce from Thistle Farm.

 

 

December 22 – Join Santa as he straps on his ice skates to pirouette around the outdoor skating rink. Santa is the only one who will be showing off his tricks. Gather around a bon fire with hot chocolate and marshmallows and watch the Valley View Skating Club put on a spectacular Christmas performance.

 

 

December 23 & 24 – Santa Claus will be hitting the slopes and hosting village sleigh rides before heading off on Christmas Eve to deliver presents to boys and girls around the world. Join him for breakfast on Christmas Eve!

 

 

December 27 & 28 – Check out the gorgeous scenic paintings from local artist Joanne Hastie. This young, emerging artist will display her work at Tree Line Studios in the heart of the Sun Peaks Village.

 

 

December 28 – The Alpine Harmony Concert, held in a private chalet, begins with fabulous appetizers and wine and an eye catching view of the Sun Peaks Village at night. Mingle with old friends and new as members of the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra fill the mountains with melodies during this special seasonal performance.

 

 

December 29 –The Sun Peaks Holiday Concert, now in its’ fourth year, delivers the audience a selection of time-honoured favourites from members of the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra with some extraordinary young musicians. Cori Ross, a local artist, will be displaying her bold and dynamic work prior to the concert. Cori is well known at Sun Peaks and has been creating special pieces for the Holiday Concert poster for last three years.

 

 

December 31 – Children will kick off the New Year’s Eve Celebrations with a Glowstick Parade, which will be followed by First Flight…a demonstration of slopestyle acrobatics not to be missed. Following First Flight, adults can participate in the Torchlight Descent on Sundance Mountain, a procession that creates an amazing pyrotechnical illusion. Wrap up the evening with a spectacular fireworks show over the Sun Peaks Village.
