July 28, 2009 – Sun Peaks, BC – Back by popular demand, the 2nd Annual Farmers’ Market Olympics will be taking over the Sun Peaks Village on Sunday, August 2nd as part of the BC Day Family Celebrations at the resort.

The Farmers’ Market Olympics are an opportunity to highlight the fantastic products offered by area farmers. Taking place in the heart of the weekly Farmer’s Market, families will be going head to head in various competitions such as corn husking and eating, and scarecrow building.

The 2008 Farmers’ Market Olympics were part of the BC150 Feastival Celebration at the resort, after which Sun Peaks was awarded the Best Small Market from the BC150 Farmers’ Market awards.

The Farmers’ Market Olympics are part of a whole weekend of family fun in the Sun Peaks Village during the BC Day Celebrations. Enjoy pony rides from Sun Peaks Stables, a rock climbing wall and performances by magician Clinton Gray and Tickles and Yowza the Clowns. Shane Philip will keep the energy up in the Village with several performances on the didjeridoo, while artist David Oram paints a mural to the rhythms of Shane’s music. An art show, face painting and a fire truck display will also take place throughout the weekend.
