Sun Peaks, BC (January 28, 2010) – The brand new events at the expanded 12^th Annual Winter Festival of Wine at Sun Peaks Resort proved to be a huge hit, as tickets were snatched up quickly!

Six events were sold out at the festival and three of those were new events, including Wild Meats and Wild Wines, the Varietal Showdown and Dinner, and the Mixology to Music. The Medal Winners Tasting, and two seminars (Icewines & Nothing More and Cadbury Chocolates & Heavenly Wine) also sold out.

The Sun Peaks Bartender Mixology Face-Off was another new event at the 2010 festival and was a huge success. Four bartenders from Sun Peaks were challenged to create a unique cocktail including some element of wine at the custom made ice bar at Masa’s Bar + Grill. Congratulations to Daemon from Globe Tapas for winning the Judges Prize and to Krista from Masa’s for winning the People’s Choice Award!

“I was delighted to see guests from Kamloops, the Lower Mainland and from abroad all enjoying the wide variety of events offered during this year’s festival,” said Jen Barter, Resort Experience Manager with Tourism Sun Peaks. “The new events all proved to be extremely popular with three of the four selling out!”

The flagship event of the festival, the Sun Peaks Progressive Tasting, was once again a huge crowd pleaser with 24 wineries set up in hotel lobbies throughout the charming alpine village. In addition to the wine tastings, guests enjoyed demonstrations from three local artisans (Ken Farrar, Kendra Smith, and Sol Metal Designs).

Mark your calendar! The next culinary extravaganza at Sun Peaks takes place July 16-18, 2010 during the 3^rd Annual Wine and Culture Festival. Sample wine from BC’s boutique wineries, taste seasonal treats from local chefs, enjoy melodic sounds from the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra and more! Details and ticket information coming soon!
