First B.C. Interior Resort Opens Saturday for the Winter 2010-11 Season

Sun Peaks, BC (November 17, 2010) – The lifts start turning at Sun Peaks this Saturday, making it the first resort in the BC Interior to open for the Winter 2010-11 season.

Three chairlifts at Sun Peaks will open with limited top-to-bottom skiing on Saturday, November 20, 2010. The Crystal, Sunburst and Elevation Chairlifts will be open at 9:00am for skiing and riding on a selection of terrain for all abilities, including Spillway, The Other Way, Crystal Run, and Five Mile.

Close to 40cm of fresh powder has fallen at Sun Peaks Resort in the last 7 days, with over 20cm of that in the last 48 hours. Snow is continuing to fall and EnviroBC is forecasting another 20cm in the next 24 hours.

Lift tickets for adults will be $50.00 per person with the limited opening on Saturday. With additional snow in the forecast, more terrain will open as conditions allow and the lift ticket prices will adjust accordingly.

Mountain Operations crews are also working to have limited Nordic terrain open on Saturday as well. Further details on that will be released as they become available.

Winter has officially arrived at Sun Peaks Resort, so grab your skis or board and get set for a fantastic season on the slopes.
