Kamloops Race Report - Royal Distributing World Enduro Canadian Championship

2011-07-16 09:53
The Royal Distributing World Enduro Canadian Championship, presented by Parts Canada, kicked off this past weekend in British Columbia. The event, put on by Guy Perrett Moto Productions and hosted by the Sun Peaks Resort, was amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in Canada, but no one came to sight see, they came to race.

Yamaha/Machine Racing Team Manager John Nelson says, “What a scene it is out here. This is a great place for a race as far scenery goes. Wojo is ready for 2011 and will be in the hunt for the title. My fat half son Gauldy is a new comer to this and I am just stoked to have him try Off Road and maybe bring a little personality into this side of the sport. Even our team driver Jon Ryan wanted to try his hand on the difficult western courses. It truly is a team effort.”

After day one there was some confusion with scoring and the event was a little unorganized, considering it was Guy Perrett and his crew’s first event and the first round of the series the small questionable hiccups were dealt with and the team moved on to day 2. Wojo scored a 5th in E2 and 6th overall on the day. Gauldy wobbled across the line 5th in E1 and Jon Ryan was 9th.

“I was pretty fired up about day one but it was out of my hands”, explains Wojo. “I thought I rode well but I took my spot like a professional and knew I would be better on day 2.”

“I was so glad to finish that,” says a very tired Gauldy. “That was the craziest thing I have ever done. I’m proud that I finished.”

When the sun came up on day 2 the Yamaha/Machine Racing team knew that better results lied ahead. The course got a little easier and both Wojo and Gauldy stepped there game up considerably. On top of that all the small little clerical errors were looked after and the 2nd round went off without a glitch.

“I am really happy with my results on the weekend. I was pretty fired up after day one but team manager John Nelson calmed me down and gave me a few pointers which led to my best results by day’s end, ever, on the western tour,” states Wojo.

“Oh my god I am so pumped that this over. I was cursing the name John Nelson quite a bit as I lifted my YZF 250 out of the mud many times. Once again I was glad to finish. For all my motocross buddies who think this should be easy: try it and be prepared for one hell of a reality check!” says Gauldy

So when the weekend was finally over, Wojo saw himself in 4th overall which is a good improvement over the 2010 start. Gauldy sits 5th in E1 and will no doubt get better as the tour continues.

Team Yamaha/Machine Racing would like to thank the following sponsors for their support and countless efforts to help the team reach their goals: LGS, Bondi Engines, Yamalube Podium Grafix, Works Connection, AXO Gear, Rekluse, Orthoflex, PerformX Training, LRP, AME Grips, MXPerformance Magazine, Oakley, Monster, Ogio, My Pakage, Etnies, VP Racing Fuels and Thor Gear.
