The Original Snow Bum Returns to Sun Peaks as a Winter Ambassador
Thiago visits Sun Peaks over the Holiday Season
Sun Peaks, BC (December 21, 2010) – As people from around the world continue to submit entries for Snow Bum 2: The Snapshot, the first Snow Bum returns to Sun Peaks Resort for a special visit over the holiday season, from December 23, 2010 to January 3, 2011.
Thiago Lucena from São Paulo, Brazil was the lucky winner of the original I want to be the Snow Bum contest launched by the BC Interior resort last fall. He spent three months at Sun Peaks being a true Snow Bum – skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and more – while blogging and spreading the word about the world-class resort using social media channels.
Thiago thoroughly enjoyed his experience at Sun Peaks and is now a volunteer ambassador for Tourism Sun Peaks. He spends time in Brazil educating in-market industry partners, wholesalers and travel agents about all that Sun Peaks has to offer.
“I began checking the webcams since the first snowflakes started flying back in October and I realized I simply could not let winter arrive and not plan a visit to Sun Peaks,” explains Thiago about his homecoming. “I’m looking forward to seeing friends I made last season, and of course, skiing as much as I can. Even being from far away, I feel Sun Peaks is kind of my home mountain now.”
Thiago will be teaming up with Olympic Champion Nancy Greene during her ski around with guests on Wednesday, December 29. Guests will be meeting them at the top of the Sunburst Express Chairlift.
Thiago’s Snow Bum successor will be announced on March 1, 2011. The winner and three of his/her friends will spend a week at Sun Peaks and be the star of their own winter video, shot by Kevin Hagell (Kaizen Visuals), who produced Sun Peaks’ own promotional video. Entries are being accepted at www.snowbumcanada.com until February 20, 2011.
