Three Generations of Skiers Prepare to Race
Canadian Masters Alpine Championships: March 30-April 3
Sun Peaks, BC (March 25, 2011) – The passion of skiing knows no age limit and that will be proved once again at Sun Peaks Resort next weekend during the Canadian Masters Alpine Championships, March 30 to April 3.
The true master of the weekend will be 91 year old Rolf Hauge of Ontario, the oldest competitor in the field. During the 2010 Masters, he took gold in the Super G and Giant Slalom events. The youngest competitor registered is 28 year old Adam Kennedy from Alberta.
Hauge, Kennedy and the other masters will begin the official races Friday, April 1 on the OSV run, where the Austrian Ski Team holds early season training every November. Super G races are on Friday, Giant Slalom in on Saturday and the Slalom Races take place Sunday. Spectators can view the races from the 5 Mile Ski Run.
Competitors are arriving from across Canada and the USA. Individual titles are handed out Sunday evening, along with the Dave Murray Trophy which goes to the overall points winner in a friendly East versus West rivalry.
